I have never had to setup a new hydraulic cylinder. Now I have to put one on a mower conditioner. I have the hoses and connecters, but how do I setup the cylinder? Do I just hook it up to the tractor and pump oil in it, or do I have to vent out the air some how?

I had to repair my cylinder on my NH478 two weeks ago. I don't know if I got lucky or what. Just hooked it to the tractor and raised and then lowered it a few times. It seem to get faster after the first time. I did need to top off the HYD fuild. My 2 cents. best of luck.

That's right Sam. You just run it all the way in and out a couple of times and it will bleed itself.

They won't always bleed themselves. The loader arms on my tractor point up, so the air will always be there if you dont put them in right. I have quick disconects on my hoses, so I remove the hose, extend the cylinder manualy, and fill the cylinder. reconnect hose, and push in the valve on the disconnect while I compress the cylinder until fluid comes out. then connect to manifold, or junction.
