I'm looking at a small John Deere(8 ft., I believe) double disk last night owned by a local dairy farmer who no longer uses it. It is misses the hydraulic cylinder to raise it, but other than that it seems to be in good shape.

Anybody know roughly what its worth? He also wants to sell one with a broken frame for parts along with it. I don't want to lowball him, but haven't a clue about its value.

If it has good blades, $250 for both would be closer, at least where I live.

I've watched them bring $700 here at auction, but $2-300 would be a good average here also.

Matt,

I don't know what area you're from. Here in Wisconsin a 10'-12' tandem disk in good shape usually brings $400-$600 at auctions depending on how heavy built it is. One thing to look at is the condition of the blades. If the blades are all busted, then it will cost you as much to replace the blades as the disk is worth. You said the disk may be 8'. If so it might be worth more as you don't see many of those around. Hobby farmers with small tractors might be looking for that size.
