I presume you mean a Continental Belton. If this is one of the cable operated ones you have found a real neat digger! It is the only one I am aware of that can pretty well clean out the hole as it digs. It drives down under power till it hits a trip lever, then it disengages the auger and brings it straight up without turning, and then spins the dirt off the auger. I have one I bought new about 25 years ago and have only had to replace the cable in all that time. One of my all time best purchases!

2 Row,

I just bought one at an auction about 2 months ago. It is setup for 2pt fast hitch. I've been looking for information about it. It is pretty neat. I have played with it a few times and it seems to be working and all there.

You wouldn't happen to have an owners / operators manual?

Would you mind me pestering you with questions about it?

Thanks Keith B

Keith, well if I can find it I should have the manual (actualy I think it was just a couple of pages) It should be in the file at the farm. I will try to help with any questions I can. As I said, really never had to do any thing to mine but just use it. Wish I could say the same about more of my equipment! My digger is 3 point but I think all of them were about the same. As I recall, they came in 3 point, fast hitch, snap couple, and I think there was even a standard drawbar version. My cousin used to dig the hole with his Continental digger, put in an oversized wooden post, then drive it in with his Dansur(sp?) post driver. It was quick and easy and man could he build some nice fence!

2 Row,

I guess my first question is there a place to put gear oil in the gear box? On mine there are grease zerks where the PTO shaft goes into the box. I can't remember off hand if there are any more but I remember thinking there is now way to lubricate the gear box itself.

Thanks

Keith B

I bought one a auction a year ago, gave $15. for it, had'nt been used in app 20 years when it took a guy's arm off so as usual be extra carefull with it. If had been my arm it would have been cut up for junk & I thought about it but then I thought it would remind me how dangerous it can be. I took the top off the gear box & filled it up with grease, also had to make new gasket, works great.
