I have an old Tekonsha brake controller, the kind that plumbs into the master cylinder brake line. It also has three wires, red-blue-black. These obviously hookup to ground, 12V, and the trailer connector but which is which?

I've checked the web. Found plenty on the new micro-processor based controllers but nothing for mine.

Brad, Don't plumb your brake controller into your hydraulic system if your truck has anti-lock brakes, I understand this can cause problems.

Wasn't Brad, it was me. I don't have ABS but thanks for the heads-up anyhow. Until they come up with some sort of industry standard TWO-WAY communication between the ABS & the controller, ABS is going to have problems even with the digital ones.

Blue - runs back to the plug on your truck for the brakes

Red-is your HOT wire .

Black- is your Ground wire.

Thanks Brad. Just what I was looking for.

p.s. I have one of the micro-processor "smart" controller suggested by Charlie but I wanted to try this one - sometimes simpler is better.
