First time out with a 306 mower, impacted something solid and busted center spindle pulley clean off. I have assembly off with blade and cannot loosen blade bolt. Is bolt left or right hand thread? Would like to disassemble myself to save dealer $$ labor fees. Blades are $42 a set, are they cheaper at tractor supply?

Left handed threads. You will need a 1/2" breaker bar with a cheater bar to break them loose. If you have a friend to help, that makes it work easier. Woods actually sells a special wrench to help do it, but I was able to just use what I had. I bought new blades a couple of years ago and they were around 13 apiece. Don't know why they are so much compared to regular mower blades of the same size. Have no idea what a new center piece would run.

My 59-1 the bolts are left hand threaded. Hard to get apart with out impact wrench. Look at the blade and my guess it would loosen by turning in the normal direction of blade rotation. Five years ago blades for my mower were $26.00 from the aftermarket. 10 years ago they were $33.00 from a Woods dealer.

Tried impact wrench and large breaker bar, but with the pulley sheared off, I don't have any way to stop from turning spacers and shaft behind blade. Are the bearings and shaft held in with a retainer behind the blade and vibration damper? Maybe I'll just grind the head off and buy a replacement with the new shaft.
