A buddy of mine offered to give me a small manure spreader that he was going to scrap out. I looked at it tonight and it wasn't as bad as he said. It's small (about 3 by 8), has an all metal body and floor, and the nameplate says it's an "Oliver Superior" manure spreader. Tires are rotted through and the floor needs some work. We pulled it with my truck and the chains and beaters all work. Now for the big question. I've got one that's identical to this (except it's in good shape) but it's a Dearborn! Was there a company that made generic spreaders and just put on the nameplate for the tractor companies? Or were Ford and Oliver working together on some implements? Thanks for any help!

Dearborn outsourced their spreaders. Maybe Oliver built it for them, or maybe Oliver got their spreaders from the same source. Farquhar in York, PA made spreaders, and Oliver sold some of Farquhar's Iron Age potato equipment. Maybe Oliver sold a spreader from them besides. Dearborn could have obtained spreaders from the same source.

Thanks Tim! I'm still kinda curious about both the spreaders. I just posted over on the Oliver board so maybe I can find out.
