What would the price be of an old JB tandem disk from an iron pile.

Hey KennyC. I have what I thought were (two) john Deere model JB disc harrows as well. I guess if Mr. Collins is correct, they are JB-A disc harrows. Here is a oicture of them. It's a little dark, but you can see the general shape of them. Is this what yours looks like? I don't know about the paint/decal scheme either. If you figure it out, post it here for me. Thanks

Kenny, I have a 6 foot JB-A disc that is in pretty good shape that I use, and a 7' one for parts. The first thing you want to get is an operators manual and/or a parts catalog. I am not aware of any decals used on it but it may have had "John Deere" somewhere on there. The JB is just a single disc and the JB-A is a double disc that is it has another set of gangs behind the front row. The discs are convex the opposite direction on the rear gang. You can get manuals from John Deere or find used ones at swap meets etc. Good luck, hope this helps. Bob

actually, Bob, according to my manual, the single action disc is a JA and the double action a JBA. I have two, a six and a seven foot. The seven has brackets for a remote cylinder to control the angle, and the six has the touch o matic kit to adapt it to an M or MT.

Karl, Thanks for catching my error, you are absolutely right, I thought I knew the designation so i didn't look at the book but, the single disc IS a JA and the double is the JBA. I have seen them painted all green and mine is green frame and yellow gangs, which wears off quickly with use and it is more of a pain to paint the two colors. I don't know which is correct. Bob

Hi, Bob. Didn't mean to nitpick, it just didn't sound quite right so I looked it up. Couldn't tell you about the colors, mine are both kinda brown and lumpy, and I've never seen one with original paint. I do know they do a better job than a lot of more modern discs do. I love mine.
Take care, Karl.
