I purchased a John Deere FB-B seed drill at an auction (I kind of got caught as they asked for an opening bid and I said ten bucks ... guess what , I own it now).
Don't know anything about this rig. It was used last year to put in mixed grain for sheep (This is what I plan to do on about 4 acres) There is no grass box and the fertilizer box doesn't work. Most everything seems to be on it all seed tubes although three of the lower scuffer parts are missing. It is a fifteen run. Can someone tell me the basics of operation on this as far as how do I get the disks into the ground, how do I adjust depth. Can I seed in hay 80/20 alfalfa/timothy with this, do I need those bottom scuffers? How do I know if it is working properly. Also the field I will be seeding had soybeans on last year that were not taken off because of weather and crop quality. What prep does this field need? Plough? Cultivate? Disc? As you can imagine I am really new at this. Thanks in advance

You should be able to get a manual for it at your local John Deere dealer.
