I am looking at two different haybines. One is a JD 480 and the other a New Idea (8foot wide, I don't know which model). Can anyone give me any info on the JD? Any experience with New Idea haybines? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

The 480 was Deeres early attempt at a haybine. If in good visual condition with no obvious weld/patch jobs and can run it before buying, would be good machine for light use. But be aware that not many dealers are going to have many specific parts to go on it,if any, because there wasn't to many built. And your totally out of luck if anything expensive looking breaks, cause those kind of parts aren't available.I know, use to be a Deere parts man.
