Purchased a belt from dealer for around $52+tax;while installing belt I discovered that previous owner had replaced idler pulley with wrong type (used a V pulley, same as on other side of unit.New and correct pulley with bearing cost me $52 but now I know what was causing the belts to break.

I have a RM59 for 20 + years. Belts from elec. motor shop cost $20.00 and last me 3 years. Follow the directions for installing or it is a pain to get the twists correct. I check my tension weekly and do not over tighten. I also apply belt dressing weekly during the mowing season. The belt size for mine is a B180.
I added a roller in the center front to keep from scalping.

older model 59 mowers had a manual adjust belt
that nobody ever checked, belt jumped off an would
get pinched.Bought a couple 75.00 belts myself.
The new one i bought a couple years ago has a
spring tightner and hasn't caused any problems.
