I recently picked up a John Deere two bottom plow
at an auction and was tring to find some info about it. It is on steel wheels and has "583"
stamped in the top of it. I would like to find out what year it is.

Brent, The plow you have is one of the Number 4 series, If it has a lever and a crank adjustment it is a 4 or 4A, if it has 2 levers it could be a 4B, 4C, or 4D. these were made from 1929 -1949 so you will need to come up with more numbers to pin it down. Bob

The plow is probably a #4 which was made during the 30's and 40's. It was made in 3 different configurations. They were a heavy duty #52. Just my 2 cents worth. Drew s/w WI.
