I got this great catalog last week and was wondering if anybody here has tried them? Any Good? They have a 3 year warranty on them. I need a cylinder to put on the 10' disk. What about Cross cylinders from TSC etc? Or should I wait and try to find a John Deere cylinder that is supposed to be on the disk at a farm sale?

I've been using Cross cylinders since the early 90's. Never had a leak or failure, knock on wood. Over the years I've also bought a lot from Northern, in my experience, quality has been average but service and warranty work excellent; I have not used Northern's cylinders, though.

JWS,
When my Dad was alive and farming he bought hyd cylinders from both Northern and TSC(Country General in our part of the country) and since I took over the farm I have done the same. They are good quality and probably cheaper than John Deere units, as long as the diameter and stroke are what the implement needs and the pressure rating is suitable for the tractor's hyd system.

Check the pressure ratings. I think you'll find that JD has a rating of 3000 PSI while the other ones are 2000 to 2500 PSI.
