Seeing that questions of JD plows get answered quikly I have one. I bought a JD 2 furrow steel wheel plow in south west Missouri near Eldorado Springs this summer. Numbers on the beams are 612 and 613 . On the plow bottom is number 8050. The bottom has a long curved wear point that is adjustable, triangle shaped and extends to the top of the mole board. Both the shear and board come up against this point that acts both as a point and shin. This plow did not have coulters but I do wonder if it maybe should. Can anybody help identify? All information appreciated.

Ken, You have a number 52 plow, as with most John Deere plows, the bottoms are a separate decision made to suit conditions, kind of like buying an electric drill and then choosing the bit for the hole you want to make. It sounds like you have Syracuse bottoms which were a popular choice for that plow and came in a variety of shapes. Coulters and jointers were used on the #52 which was built from 1934-1947 but were often removed for trashy conditions. Your plow was built 1935 or later that's all I can tell from the beam numbers.
