A friend and I looked yesterday at a JD 2x14 plow on steel. John Deere was stamped into the cross brace. Stamped on the the beams was 482x and 483x. The lift had a pair of external gears that did the raising. The was also writing on the lift case but I failed to write it down. We would like to know any information about the plow. Thanks and have a nice day. Jerry

Jerry, What you have found is a John Deere #45 plow. They were made from 1919 through 1927 so there are probably not a lot of them left. Along the side of the long beam it says "BEAMS GUARANTEED NOT TO BEND OR BREAK" although that is probably long since gone, it shows John deeres faith in their implements. Was this plow for sale? I am curious as to the asking price. Hope this info is of some use. Bob

Hi Bob, Thanks for your quick response to my question about the plow. I certainly apperecitate the information. In this case the JD gaurantee didn't hold water. The back beam has been broken and welded in the curve above the rear moldboard. Also the hitch where the clevis would hook on is broken off and missing. Yes, the plow is for sale. I didn't ask, but do you or someone that you know have a ball park figure as to what it is worth? Thanks again and have a nice day. Jerry
