They are both good. One big factor is a good dealer nearby that will stand behing their product. I have used NH balers my whole life, but next time it will be a Deere because of dealer support.

Red/yellow all the way! Just bought old NH super 67, brought it home, adjusted knotters to specs in the owners manuel, took it out and never missed a bale for first 550 bales. Old rusty NH of any model will beat the green guys (new or old) all the way around the field. Just my two cents worth

Here's my take on the situation. When I was growing up (60's) my impression from my elders (Dad and his neighbors) was that the John Deere models of that time, 14t, 24T etc, were better than the New Hollands of that time. Talking to present day farmers (I only play at it myself) I think a lot of people think New Holland is king. So I guess if you're buying a relatively new baler (80's or 90's) I'd recommend a New Holland. If you're thinking about a 60's or 70's baler, I'd go with a John Deere. Just a few thoughts.

Grew up on 1100 acres here in SE Ky. we used NH. Two of them as a matter of fact. The only GREEN paint we ever had was a 16" turning plow (3 board) must say that it was the best one I ever used. Boy that hurt ! Go RED

Which dealer do you have the handiest to get part or do repair on knotters. I like New Holland best but knotter repair can be of big importance.

My uncle baled for 50 years. Was real partial to New Holland.

Either or. JD pan thrower (#30 or later) will throw a heavier bale than NH belt thrower. NH has also offered pan throwers the past few years. Belt thrower stresses machine less than pan thrower, since there isn't any shockload on the machine.
