Where is all the used Farming Implements in FL/GA

I love reading of everyone's farming implements and their uses, i.e. spud planter, 2-4 row planters etc., etc. I would like to know of where I can locate this type equipment in the Southeast.

It seems either thru lack of original equipment or salt air corrosion none of this equipment is avail. Purchasing outside of area appears (to me) to be cost prohibitive due to transportation fees.

I can find new stuff but it is for the corporate or big time farmer of which I am not.

Hey Shep, I think they have a big sale at Dothan, Al every spring. I am not sure of the time of the year. My brother lives down that way and used to go to that sale. I am sure some of the old Southern Boys on this board can point you to some other places that have sales. You can haul a lot of stuff on a 16 foot trailer.

I'm pretty sure that's an auction at Dothan, Ala. every month. I remember seeing ads for it in Fastline, Heavy Equip. Trader, etc. but I can't remember which week of the month it is.

There's a pretty good sized equip auction at Cullman. He has a lot of older and obsolete equipment and his prices are'nt too bad, especially if you need it.

There are several good auction companies in GA. Down in Hazelhurst you have Miller-Godley tractor equipment sales, (1-800-533-0673. They do have a web page but since they are an auction house not all of the equipment is listed. They do have a lot of older 1-2 row equipment.

Hays tractor sales in Mansfield Ga (1-770-786-3334) has a good collection of obsolete (1-2 row equipment) and used tractors. Mansdield is north-northeast of Macon between their and Athens.

Rebel tractor (somewhere donw around Valdosta) 1-800-752-0540). Have only talked with them on the phone.

T&H tractors in PAVO, Ga (between Valdosta and Dothan) 1-912-859-2643 has older equipment and does part them out.

The state department of agriculture has a week newsletter and web page for people to advertise agricultural items such as equipment and livestock.
