I have a chance to buy a 2-row Ford cultivator, 3-point, for $150. The shovels are bad but a neighbor of mine will give me some good ones. It has been sitting outside for a while but probaly 60-70 of the paint is still on it. Do you think it's worth $150? As more and more people are getting into "SweetCorn" and "Hobby Farming" which I am probaly a canadate, the market for 2-row implements seems to have rebounded from obsolete scrap metal to useful equipment for the Hobby Farm. 2-Row planters are selling for twice as much as perfectly good older 4-rows around here.

JWS, I would say that a good price for the two row unit. The only thing I would say with the unit is if you use it in corn make sure the rows are stright. The two row unit works great if set up correctly. I had a two row unit that was on a jd 3020 it did a great job but with rows that were just out of stright the look back to see the cultivators clean wiped out corn in the front. I have since picked up cultivators for my allis b. They are one row and work real good. If you plan to sell sweet corn take a hint, Don't plan to make much from your hard work. With the 3 acers I put in I spend around 700 +/- and make 800 to 900. I realy want to get into a market garden but how can some one make a living on such small margens? Look at as a way to use the equipment you enjoy doing what it was made for. I hope this will help. Ed
