I am looking at a Vermeer 605A baler. I don't know anything this baler. Does anyone have any experience good or bad with these balers?

i have two of them they are really tough bailers but a few things you should know, the ones with the 4 inch belts are better then the wide belts, check them for proper lenth and don,t get any wood stuck in the feed rollers can start a fire easly wile bailing, also check the gear box bearings as well be shure there in good shape before using, anouther i might add iff you ever have a problim with it plugging starting a bail there is 3 bolts on the chain side the attaches to a coupler, if these brake it will drive you crazy, lol but its an easy fix there hidin under the drive sproket, other wise be sure that the bars on the front pick up are not rubbing on the feed rollers,if they are straiten them or replace the side yokes on the pick up,i also have a john deer bailer as well, its faster but when i want nice tight bails i use this one, you have to zig zag in the wind rows to get the core of the bail up ,they work well for me once you get to know them, they capable of making bails that look like a 25000 dollar machine, ill be puttin one of mine to work this week cuase it a little bitt of a rough field, made to take a licken and keep on ticken, any thing els you like to know don,t be shy just email, glad to help ,,,garry

That's an old one, I'm often scared of a company's first atempt at anything. Sounds like maybe the 'C' & later are the good ones, to be honest I haven't heard anything about the earlier ones, probably not many around.

Actually, the 605A was the first revision. The original was just called 605. I have a neighbor with a 605 - still uses it today - it's a good baler.

C's and later are good balers. I haven't seen an A for years. Think I would pass it by.

I have never run one, not any around here due to lack of a dealer. I hear that they are considered the cadillac of round balers. They are just real expensive compared to other manufacturers.
