Howdy,

I recently picked up a 8 foot wide kicker style hay tedder and am trying to figure out who made it by the part numbers casted on some of the parts. It's in good working order and I would like to paint it to it's original colors.

When sitting on the machine, the right wheel hub has the number T821. It also has Pat. July 14, 1903 on it.

The oil caps have the number T124, fork rod bracket-T149, engage rod holder-T117, and the raise-lower handle bracket has 7 notches with a number T823 on it.

It has 8 forks on it that are shaped like a long "U" with return springs on each one. Each fork is attached to what could be discribed as a long crank shaft that runs the length of the machine.

Thanks in advance for any help.

We have been trying to find out who made them too. A friend knows somebody that has several all in good orignal paint and the only thing different on John Deere or McCormick is the paint, all steel is exactly the same. Just pick your favorite brand.

Perhaps you mean Deering and McCormick tedders were the same except for paint? I don't recall seeing anything about John Deere or predecessor Dain Manufacturing making a fork-type tedder.
