Any ideas on what combine model to buy?
so a guy could get one on a budget
Want a combine to take grass seed
I see them all the time for about 6 to 10 thousand
that look like they could be made to work
but how tricky are the ajustments etc?

Bob: I have a Gleaner CII combine with a 4 row corn and a 12' small grain head. It still runs good, however, with the bumper crop of corn this year, it had a hard time keeping up, thinking seriously of upgrading to bigger and hopefully better, might be willing to sell the entire setup for a reasonable price, email me if interested.

I had a Gleaner F & now F2, they are similar to that C I guess. Gleaners of thise era are pretty easy for a person to maintain & repair - some of the other brands are a bit more work to replace belts & bearings.

The downside is that in some areas dealers are few & far between. I happen to be within 50 miles of 3 dealers, and all 3 have a graveyard of dead Gleaners to pick parts off of, so it works for me.

Combines do require quite a bit of upkeep & maintenence - read $$$$. Don't pay too much for one, in my area they are becoming worthless if they don't handle a 8 row cornhead.
