i am buying a 7ft JD sickle mower, strored inside it whole life. The owner wants $50 for it. I just want some idea as to its value, the green paint is in excellent shape, and the blade does show some rust and is not painted anymore.

I also can buy a post hole digger for $20. Don't know the model, and it may be frozen up (rusted). How much does it cost to rebuild them.

Also, he has two 4 bottom plows. One is three point only, the other has tires and hydraulics lifts. Both are $50, which one would be the best to have.

And finally How much is an IH 615 Combine with a a bean head and a corn head worth?

thanx

Sounds like some good deals to me. Concerning the paint on the mowing machine cutting bar, its been my experience that you want the paint missing. That area will shine up with a little use and the shinny metal won't plug up as easily as it would painted.

Buy it all! Whether you think you will use it or not . Excellent price on the sickle and both plows. It's normal for sickle bar paint to wear off and rust up, so that's nothin' to worry about. Just the auger on the post hole digger would probaly cost you $20 if you had to buy it. For a 4-bottom plow I would prefer semi-mount(plow is attached to 3pt lift arms and it has a hydraulic tailwheel to assist the lift arms. I guess it depends whether or not you have a 3pt tractor big enough to handle them. In my area 615's with both heads all in good shape useually fetch $1,500-$2,000

I agree! You can always sell the stuff you don't really want and make back some of what you spend. The best price I've seen on a used 3pt auger is $200. The best price I've seen on a JD sickle mower is the one I got for free from my aunt. It had sat out for several years and took $100 of parts to get it going. Mine is a #9 with 7' blade. I saw two of them sell on ebay last year for around $150.

A 9 inch auger for a post hole digger will be closer to $100.00
