Know of a good small granular spreader?

I am starting a small nut orchard and soil samples say I need lime and nitrogen. I would like to buy an accurate, easy to set slinger-type spreader so that the granular gets in between the trees and can be pulled with a lawn tractor (for manoeverability). Anyone have suggestions?

I appreciate the tips. The homemade one looks like a good idea too.

Hardly-Brinly makes a decent one. I got the 125 #. They have a 175 # one also. You can get them at Home Depot.

I have a pull behind Agri fab 100# spreader that works real well and was on sale at Agway for $100. I used it before I bought a 3 point rotary.I even towed it behind a pickup, but had to rope my son into the back to operate the lever.was spreading limestone and the kid looked like a snowman when we were done.

Don't buy a Earthway brand spreader, or planter. You get what you pay for-CHEAP JUNK. The small-pull behind spreader that I bought new for $20 tipped over and spilled lots of fetilizer when the wheel hit a bump. The push-type planter, the plastic sweetcorn plate wouldn't stay on for 30 seconds and eventually cracked. Agri-Fab makes a pull behind spreader which looks well built for it's size. It costs $130 but probaly worth it.

I've got an Agri-Fab spreader. It works pretty darn good.

I bought it at Mills Fleet Farm -- he can probably get it lots of places.
