Plow for Super A?

In my IH dealers "junkyard" I ran across a single bottom plow that may fit my Super A. I need help determining this. It had the number IH512320R1 stamped in it. This thing has a heavy curved I beam type frame, a lift chain about in the middle, and a guide disk. The attachment end has 2 shock spings and about a 5" plate with 2 bolt holes. Looks like it would bolt right to my standard fixed drawbar (maybe turned around to point forward). Can anyone recognize this number and what tractors it's used on?
Thanks,
David

David: The one I owned had a single bottom that hooked to the left side of the "A". You just turn the drawbar around toward the front. In the middle was a chain that hooked to the left lift arm. You set the pitch by choosing the angle of the drawbar. The old-timers here in Ga. called that a left hand Dixie. It works best on the left side because that's where the weight is so you won't be spinning a wheel all the time. Mine done a beautiful job. The lift chain always had slack in it while the plow was in the ground. A properly set turning plow should be able to plow without the top link anyway, while it's in the ground. Barney

Thanks to all for the info.
I see the need for front end adjustment to set pitch but I don't understand the up and down adjustment on the drawbar. My drawbar is a non-swinging model, basicly a "C" shaped affair with several holes for attaching equipment. It bolts solidly to each drive housing with two bolts (or studs). Could it be that you remove one bolt on each side allowing it to pivot on the other?

That is what you do. The drawbar attaches backwards so it faces the front end. Then a lift attaches to it and the plow bolts to the drawbar. Look for warn holes toward the right side and those are the ones you connect to. Attaching the draw bar is easy. remove it from the rear turn it, and attach it on the other side of the axle houseing. There should be a row of holes on the drawbar brackets, about 4 i think, leave them off and only attach the heavier bolts, though you may use the smaller ones if you choose, it shouldn't hurt anything.

You just described a l6" moldboard plow that fits a Super A. It bolts to the turned around drawbar so the plow will cut about 16" of soil. I don't know which holes now would have to look on my drawbar for the two worn holes. You will also need an adjustable bar that runs from the right lift arm to the draw bar. This bar raises and lowers the drawbar to change the angle the plow point attacks the ground. By raising and lowering the drawbar you can make the plow run deeper or shallower. By the way does anyone know where to purchase the old l6" cast iron plow points that fit this plow, I need several new ones.

I need the older model plowpoint , the one with the long suction nose point. I have a cast iron moldboard and need the castiron point.

You need 2 lifts to work the plow, i'm not sure how thatworks with hydraulics. One on the right to work the drawbar, to change the pitch. and one on the rear to raise and lower the plow. The hydraulicsshould have an arm that comes toward the rear to attach to. My Cub has a manual lift arm, which attaches on the left, there are 2 lifts on this. When the handle is pushed forward it raises one arm and lowers the other. One is in from above the belly, the other is in the rear. I assume hydraulics would not be much different....

third party image

It looks similar to this picture (borrowed from the photo section of this site) except single bottom and less complicated attachment end with just plate hooked to the shock springs. Also, what might it be worth in very rusty shape?

Well i have a plow like the one you've described, i don't know about the price. The one i have is alot like the one you've described, it should fit a Cub, A, B. I don't know if it would work on any other of the letter series or not. If you have any questions about attatching it, e-mail me and i'll explain. If not happy plowing....
