We have a 14' BWA, and use a 3.5" x 8" cylinder. Hp depends on your soil and depth of disking. I have pulled our in heavy clay, which prevents it from sinking far, with the 300 IH in 3rd gear. We do use the 756D for most of the time, unless broke down. I would think 30 hp would be the minimum. As for disk blades, the vary from disk to disk. Ours has 18" on it, but it will take up to 22" and coned shaped disks. Measure the clearance from the center of the disk axle to the frame of the disk, that should give you a idea, but remeber to keep room for trash clearance.

If you put the cone style blades on it you will end up with a packer.

This message should be eliminated(or go to archives I should say) from the board because the 2-weeks are up. Thanks to the guys who replied. I had posts about my AC and JD planter. I realized that the AC post was way too long and that nobody wants to read all of that. If they wanted to know more about it they could have posted and I would have replied. I saw a post about the JD 494A planter a few weeks ago and I thought that those guys would reply, oh well. If any body cares I found a wheel hub from a 1240 that a guy is probaly going to part out, he hasn't set a price yet.
