Found this baler "in the weeds" on a farm my son just bought. It is missing the auxilliary engine. Can anyone tell me about it. Is it restorable?
Thanks, D

In repley to: N.H. 66 baler, my grampa and I have two of them. Ours had 2 cyl. whisconson motors on them. we baled a lot of hay with them but ours sit in the weeds now and we moved on to newer bailers.

Your best bet is to fill a ditch with it or make yourself a custom mailbox holder.

Dooey, It would actually be cheaper to put a PTO shaft on it with a lot less headaches than a motor. I assume you are using a tractor, I used to sell a lot of them to the Amish (with motors) but they are falling (have fallen)out of favor with just about everyone. They are a pretty hard sell right know if that helps in your decision to restore. Norm

Norm: Thanks for the info. I neglected to say that the baler has a PTO shaft, but nevertheless there had been a motor attached also. Could be that it was used as an auxilliary???

My stepdad had a New Holland 66 baler with a two cylnder Wisconsin motor. A very good baler. Once it ate the wadboard that fed hay into bale chamber. We would let it run through noon dinner, it was hard to start when warm.

Anything is restorable if enough money is thrown at it.

I bought a NH 66 a few years ago. It was pretty beat to begin with, but worked for a while. Then it started eating parts, including the wadboard one sad day. Finished the season with it, and it's in the weeds since. We got a NH 77 which is a whole lot better deal. I don't hate anybody bad enough to sell them the 66. Besides some of the parts fit on the 77. I know why 66's wind up in the weeds.
