I've ran across a 12A combine locally and an trying to aquire it for the next restoration project. It's in great shape and has a new canvas to go with it. I need some info, it has an LUC engine on it, is it the same as an "L" engine?, how much do these things usually go for?, and it anyone has ever restored one of these, what kind of a project am I in for.
Thanks.

Yes, it's the same engine as an L tractor (or in some cases an LA engine). Around here old combines like that go for scrap or parts. As long as nothing is broken, missing, or rusted out, you shouldn't have that hard of a time restoring it. The canvases are hard to get, but you've got that hurdle crossed already. The only other problem that I could think of would be if there are any rubber-covered shafts in the machine (the last I saw of my grandfathers 12A was 15 years ago, so I can't remember for sure.) There's a place in Kansas, I think, that recovers conditioner rolls, they might be able to do a shaft out of a combine. I'll dig for their phone number and or address. Let us know what you do with it. BTW, is it a bagger or tanker?

Where do you get parts for one of these combines? I have one that I am trying to make parade worthy and will pull behind an old tractor. Any suggestions. Any pictures of one available?
