See if you can find a Kosch belly mount mower. I have been using one for years on a C. The basic machine is the same for all tractors, and they made mounts for most of the tractors of that time. The actual cutting parts, knives, guards, etc. are interchangeable with IH. The last I knew ,1998, the company was still in business, and parts were still available. 800-278-9144. I have bought a couple of these mowers at auction for less than $100, because nobody knows what they fit, or wants to fool with them. The best feature of the mower is having it out beside the tractor, instead of behind where you have to turn around to see what you're doing. If you need the tractor for something else, you don't have to take the mower off, just remove the PTO pully and belt if you need the PTO.

Are these the light-green mowers? We had one on the Oliver 88 when I was a kid, dad got rid of it before I was driving tractor. Always wondered what brand it was.

They are harder to put on, but easier to mow with, along fence rows & such.

Sounds like the same thing. Dad alwys said there were no ballbearings in his neck, and it was a lot easier not to be looking over his shoulder.
