Anyone using/used the Hesston inline square balers? Correct me if I am wrong, but is the CaseIH inline the same baler? What is your opinion if it? How does it compare with the JD and NH balers? What is the history of these balers? When were they first made? Who is the original designer of the baler, Hesston, Case, IH or someone else?

Thanks,
Bill

Don't know much about them, but i DO KNOW they both come from the same factory! HFI (Hay and Forage Industries) down in Kansas. Joint share between old Case/IH and Agco/Hesston. They come off the same assy. line so i would suspect they are a common-platform design, meaning they are very similiar to each other. I do know that neither Case nor IH (not sure about Hesston) could ever make a baler that worked very good. I would doubt that these new ones are any different. If you want a square baler go with the NH - #1 then the JD - #2. they cost more up front but they are worth the price.

yes they are the same, just differnt paint. I would put them aganst any other baler on the market. Thier speed and consistancey are far better than any newholland or johndeere.

I ran bale wagon this summer behind a Hesston inline baler. It was a nightmare. I have never seen such an inconsistant bale. THey varied from 2' to 4'. The guy running it had just gone through the metering device on it, hoping to fix it. He says it has done this since day one, and they bought it new. We were baling straw, and it had a hydraulic tension on it. I would not recommend the purchase of it to anyone after seeing that. I also ran bale wagon behind a NH 316. It works perfect. We put 10,000 bales through it a year. We had to put new knives in it this summer. THe needles have a bad wear spot from the twine. It will tell you when it is to tough to bale, the knotters don't tie. You can fight it all you want, but the hay isn't ready, so no since baling. When conditions are good, we can easily do 1500-2500 bale a day. JD or NH would be the only way to go, I do prefer NH though.
