Was looking a sickle mover for a Farmall H - drawbar mount - 7 ft - question is can you set the angle of the bar or is it all or nothing? Reason for question is looking to mow side terraces in the field that range from 3 to 4 feet high - and the side of a ditch - not to mention staying away from the edge of the ditch but be able to cut "over it" so to speak- or does sickle mower rest on runners or plates that skim the ground? Thanks, Jim

They mostly have a spring, so they very lightly rest on the ground, just barely dragging. They wear more, or don't handle quite as nice, when you run them at an up or down angle if they are a pit-man drive. You might want to look for a wobble box drive for those applications. Altho for your uses a pitman would probably be fine.

Pop was on Twnshp board for years, ditches were mowed(so to speak)with a 3Pt Dearborn on an 8N.Had a mast installed on mower frame and a chain to appx 2/3 out on sickle bar to stabilize
unsupported outer end of bar which in normal use would ride ground on a skid shoe like the inoard end.
