I have been in contact with Ms. Gloria J. Horner who is the exec. director of the Bellefonte Intervalley Area Chamber of Commerce. She has verified that a Mr. Grant Weston lost both hands in an accident last Wednesday(I believe). It took the machine 3 hours to rub both of his hands off at the wrists. The hands were burned off and because of this did not bleed. He was airlifted to an area hospital and it doing well. His family has taped a spoon to his stub and he is able to feed himself. He walked out to the landlady's house of the land that he has farmed for 27 years since her own husband was killed in a tractor accident on the same hillside that Mr. Weston had his accident on. There is a United Methodist Church at Runville with the address that Duane gave in a lower post. The phone no. for the church is 814-353-8380. I dialed the number but got no answer. It was 6:30 EDT. The address for the church is listed in Duane(pa)'s post. I will give it again. Runville United Methodist Church 1216 Runville Rd.(Boggs Twp) Bellefonte, Pa 16823 Ms. Gloria Horner's e-address is [email protected] She also sent me two of her phone numbers. I will supply them on request. I am convinced and will send my check. I hate to be such a cynic. I was juked out of $350 once by a con artist. I chalked it up to experience and now consider myself a graduate of conmen 101. Thanks Duane for bringing this to our attention. Sorry for all the doubting on my part, but I know that you understand. Thanks Steve, this man is my friend and a good neighbor. I hadn't thought about this forum for a fund drive. Initially I just wanted to caution others about PTO equipment. I think we've all heard the warnings many times but somthing like this really makes the point. There is absolutely nothing that is worth the risk when it comes to turning PTO shafts.

what brand and model of picker was it? where did he get caught in it? too many of us think about the snapping rolls and forget about the pto because it is shielded,or the husking rolls. a word of warning guys ,dont forget about all the other 'pinch' points! gear to gear, gear and chains, belts and pulleys, raising and lowering hinge points, hitching and unhitching, both to tracto and wagon.and the fan blades for blowing chaff out of husking beds.plus a rusty place on revolving shafts can catch skin, gloves ,hair, and clothes. and dont forget stalk ejector rolls for the stalks that get run into the machine.
