What are the wheels on landscape rakes for?

Some rakes seem to have two wheels, some just one wheel, and some no wheels at all.

I'm thinking about getting a rake to use with my backblade for grading and cleaning up a long gravel driveway. We also recently bulldozed a horse ring that left a wonderful accumulation of rocks behind.

Thanks,
Jerry

The wheels allow the rake to follow the graded soil behind the rake rather than the contour of the uneven soil in front of the rake...same premis as a road grader or mid-mount blade. The farther the wheels are set back from the rake, the more even the end result. You can buy wheels at Northern Tool.

The wheels keep the rake from digging too deep. The result is a much more level job. It's very difficult to keep the rake at the right height with just the three-point, especially if the ground is uneven.

Get a rake with wheels.
