I just bought a JD B drill, does anyone know of any sources for parts manuals or any type manual for this drill.

Your local John Deere dealer has a catalogue of manuals for older equipment. There are lots of B drills out there still in daily use. Make sure you have the serial number (found on a plate on the right side of the seed box on later models) if it has one. Earlier models didn't have s/n plates. There were loads of detail changes over a long production run, and two basic types: fluted feed and double run feed. Fortunately the basic adjustments and operation didn't change much.

Thanks Karl, it may be a earlier model I just got it this weekend and haven't looked real close for a serial tag. It is a 14x7.

James:
If if has 5 lug wheels it was built in the 40s or early 50s, 6 lug wheels late 50s to late 60s. Later drills have galvanized seed boxes, earlier ones had painted boxes.

Karl, it has a galvanized box and I found the serial tag, if you are standing behind the drill it is located on the left side on the end, the serial was 5411 so I hope to find what year it was made. I did not look at the wheels , but I will tonite after I get home from work. Thanks again.
