Old woods finish mower

have an old 6' woods finish mower (3pt. hitch, and about 20 yrs. old), but unlike today's newer decks, it only has 2 rear wheels... no front wheels. it does have a roller up front under the deck, but even adjusted out it's way too shallow (was this meant to be used as a front depth adjustment or???).

i'm thinking of adding 2 front wheels like the new decks, so it floats. right now, i have to ride the hydraulics over uneven turf.

any ideas on how to add the wheels or where to get some? any kits?

I have added front wheels to Woods finish mowers two times. You can buy all you need from a Woods dealer. Thats what i did. You have to drill holes in the deck to bolt them on, but that's no big deal. Robert

Ok, I am still curious as to how this will help over uneven terrain. The front of the mower will still scalp when the front of the tractor starts up a hill.....

Thanks,
Tommy D.

Ike, can you adjust the 3pt top link to get the front of the mower deck up?

i have the toplink adjusted.... the front of the deck sits just a little bit lower than the back - per the woods webpage.

i mow around many trees, and over some uneven terrain.... if the tractor goes up a grade before the deck, then it scalps... reverse happens when beginning down a grade.

another post mentioned limiter chains, but i'm assuming that would have roughly the same results.

i will probably go with the bolt on kit mentioned in the other post...

thanks to you and all for the help.
