I'm helping my friend work with a really really old manure spreader that came with the farm he recently bought. I just need to find some good internet sites that deal with antique equipment. Have any suggestions? It's really old. It doesn't even have rubber tires, just metal rings with teeth on them. He's tring to figure out how to lower it, in order to load it. I think the main tray just gets pulled over the front wheels and is balanced during loading. AS is, it stands at about a 45 degree angle and about 10 feet high on the hitch side. There are 5 wooden boards, that run the length of the tray with pitch fork teeth pointing downward. They are connected to a cam shaft that is directly driven by the rear wheels when it is towed. Sorry for the poor description. I'm new to this farm equipment stuff. If anyone knows some good sites or maybe something about this type of manure spreader, please let me know. Thanks for you time,
Nick

I believe you pull a hayrack, hook this thing onto the back of it, & drive over the swathes of hay. It loads the hay onto the hayrack. It would have been pulled with horses back then.

I guess the hay gets turned into manure so you were close, but what you have is a hay loader. :)
