Recently I bought a John Deere walking plow at a farm auction. It is a single bottom, left hand throw, and a 14" bottom by measuring the share. The handles are 90% rotted away, but all the iron work seems to be there. The beam is stamped with "JOHN DEERE 581".

Is this worth more than scrap iron?
Any idea how old it is?
Can replacement handles be purchased?

Thx for any info you can pro

The beam number 581 was used on the left hand plows model MP12 and MP14 (yours is apparently an MP14) which was first built in 1912, I think production continued up well into the 1940's so you can pick a year you like and it will be hard for anyone to prove you wrong. Bob
