Last spring I purchased a 605c at a aution
under the guidance of a couple of friends that had round baler exsperiance. They said it looked like it had been takin care of and it ought to be a good one. Well it might have been me, but I have one heck of a time trying to get a bale started. I've tried every thing, going across the wind rows, weaving back and forth, going fast, going slow, going sideways, straight, etc. One thing I need to know about the belts , when you close the tail gate should the belts be loose or tight, I've heard both ways? Thanks for any help you can give !!

If I remember correctly the one I had was a 605F. My baler did not like to start a bale if the hay was the least bit damp.Secondly it did not like small windrows. And third the belts should not be loose when gate is closed.

Belts should be tight when gate is closed, start windrow at one side of baler and zig all the way across and then back. Run at about 2/3 PTO speed until bale is started. They don't like damp hay, and they don't like real dry hay. I had one for 12 years and then traded for a Case-IH 8460. The rubber roll on top of the steel roller needs to be adjusted down fairly tight. Check the spring on it. Good luck!
