Hi Guys: Anyone have any information on getting an electric start kit for a VF4 Wisconsin engine? I have one on a dredge (of all things) and would like to put an electric start on it. If you have one or know who I can contact to get one, I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Tom V.

I have VH4D wisconsins and they came factory
with electric start.Don't know how different these
are from yours. The first problem you would have is adding a ring
gear on the flywheel, if you don't already have one. Then it would just be a matter of bolting
up a starter motor, assuming there is a place to
do so. Next problem is a charging system-if you have a magneto, the alternator assembly goes inside
the flywheel. They make a drive for an automotive
type alternator, but it goes where the magneto is
and uses a distributor. -this becomes a lot of work and parts buying. You may want to consider
finding another engine equipped the way you want it, or do without the charging system.

Our v4 came without a starter, but had a ring gear. Dad got ahold of a starter somewhere (years ago when there were more of them around) and I'm still using it on the swather - no charger, just charge the battery from time to time.
