A neighbor has an International 27 square baler for sale. He is asking $300US and tells me it is field ready. How reliable is the 27, when was it manufactured and are parts available?

Thanks
DJ

I think it was made in 60's and 37 replaced it that was made in early 70.s.

TomH, the Case IH dealer in Johnson City TN, said he hadn't had a problem getting parts for the IH 27 baler. Just thought you might want to know.

Thanks for the information TomH. I missed out on the IH 27 baler. My neighbor had sold it. I should have had him to hold it for me. Well, I guess I'm back to looking.

DJ, We baled for several years with an IH 47. I believe that the 47 is the larger version of that series (27-37-47). Probably made around the mid to late 50s. Had no problems with it. Good baler. I just bought a 27. Have to go get it this coming weekend, 800 mi. round-trip. Gave about twice what your neighbor is asking. Let me know if you decide to buy it. We may be able to swap learning experiences. I have ALL the manuals for the 47, they may be of some use with the 27. Good Luck! Jogg, Ky.

Jogg,KY; thanks for the information. I went back to buy the IH 27, my neighbor had sold it. I should have purchased it the day he offered it to me. Well, I guess I'm back to looking. You might want to know the Case IH dealer in Johnson City TN, tells me parts is no problem for the 27. Good luck with your 27.
