I have recently aquired a Minnesota number 2 sickle bar mower and I need to find out what color to paint it and if any one has any suggestions on how to free up the axle which has rusted tight. I am also looking for info on the manufacture of this mower I have heard it was manufactured at the Minnesota state prison but do not know when or how long. Again, any information will be of great help in my most recent challenge, Thank you.

HAVE AN OLD STOCK CERTIFICATE ON THE BRAZILLA COMPANY OF MINNEAPOLIS DATED JANUARY 16, 1919. BELIEVE THE COMPANY WAS BRAZILLA MINNESOTA MOWER COMPANY CIRCA 1870 AUSTIN VILLAGE. HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS COMPANY AND WHAT THEY MANUFACTURED AND ARE THEY CONNECTED TO A LARGER COMPANY?

They made all types of 'simpler' farm machinery, gravity flow wagons & running gear fairly reciently if not still? Manure spreaders were real popular. They even made twine, until someone put the sleeve on the balls upside down & ruined their twine sales.

yes the MN brand is built at the Stillwater State prison. Often the MN brand is painted a red color with white lettering. Not sure exactly how to describe it or if that was done on your sickle mower. I can't help you with any specific info for your mower.
