I'm considering purchasing a Bush Hog brand post hole digger. I believe it's a model 2102. It has a 12 inch auger. It looks like a well built machine. Does anyone own one of these? What has been your experience? Any opinions on this machine? Thanks.

Kermit,
I have a 2101. It's the same gear box, but with the smaller PTO shaft. It is a very good digger. It is also a lot heavier and better built than the tractor supply places, no name brand models. I have a 9" double flight auger with the bear claw point. The bear claw point works great going through hard dirt. I just paid $645 for it new in December last year.

I have a neighbor who has a bush hog brand post hole digger. It is an exceptionaly well built peice of equipment. His has a 28 inch auger. and we have used it extensively setting old utility poles as fence posts. Most of our ground is hardpan and it digs right through. He says the only drawback was the short digging depth so he made an extension for the auger, and it works great down to 5 ft. Hope this helps
