Howdy -
I just got a 501 sicklebar to put on my 8N, but am not sure I have all the attachment parts. Nor do I know for sure how to attach it (I'm new to tractors altogether.) So I looked for a manual.
I checked with my local NH dealer, he says NH has 19 backorders for the 501 manual already and it will be at least 8 weeks before one can be made up.
Does anyone out there have a manual they can copy or let me copy? I'm willing to pay costs - I'd like to chop these weeds sometime this year!
Thanks -- New Joe

N-Newsletter website shows a Ford 501 mower "parts manual" in their master archives. Probably a photocopy of the original but might show you what you need to know until you can find a real book. Click on the link, then click on "master archives" and scroll down to the "mowers" section. Good luck. You may want to consider subscribing to the N-Newsletter if you're an 8N owner.

Thank you very much for that information. I've just ended my 2 yr search for an equipment manual.

Howdy again -
My search for an op manual for the 501 mower didn't pan out. One dealer says its backordered several months, another says flatly "you can't get 'em". However, the second dealer had a 501 on his back lot and let me look it over well, and gave me advice on how to assemble & adjust mine (which, it turns out, was missing a couple of bolts and had a stabilizer arm clamp busted). The bad thing is that the right side clamp, which connects the leveler and stabilizer arm on that side, is broken in half and missing the lower half. But I think I can figure out how to cobble something together that will work.
Mine is the older type with the ball-and-socket joint on these stabilizer arms, a little hard to find this part. If anyone has one in the junkpile to sell let me know. This dealer (Hodgson Tractor in Lewiston ID) has an appropriate stabilizer arm if someone needs that for $35.
Anyhow this fellow was very helpful and showed me the parts manual pages to give me an idea of what goes where. Good folks.
