I have an old JD 2 bottom plow (originally 14") pull type that I am trying to finish restoring. The only problem is that it was taken apart several years ago by my dad who started the restoration. I am now trying ot put it back together but I have a few pieces for the wheel lift assembly that I can't figure out where they go. If someone knows that they may be able to help I can e-mail some pictures to help figure it out.

Thanks,

Karl

Find out which model plow you have then get a parts catalog for it from JD. You should be able to put it all together using the drawings in it.

How would I go about placing an ID on it? There was no model number on it. I took down all the part numbers on it and took them to a JD dealer, he said the parts all could fit on 8 different plows... No serial number. I have already looked at that route and came up with a dead end... :( Next idea?

Thanks,

Karl

Hey Karl

I just finished restoring an old JD 44 2 bottom plow - you can get a serial number from the back of the plow shares, provided that they are the original shares - then call your local JD dealer who can help you out with manuals, etc.

Well, Mr. Bader, The way I usually ID JD plows is to look at the number stamped into the tops of the plow beams. You can post those numbers here and some kind soul is likely to tell you what model it is. Most JD dealers don't have much info on old plows because almost no parts are available from JD. Parts catalogs are generally available, thought. Anyway, that's my next idea.

Hello X,

Some of us have plows with no number or anything stamped into the top of the beams. I have a
2-16 and a 3-14 and neither one has a number or plate or anything. They are definately Deere.
Sometimes the simplest solution doesn't always work.

Thanks Tom
