I just bought what I believe to be a Mott flail mower, although there are no nameplates. I may nned a new bearing at the pto drive shaft on the gearbox.

Is there a source for these and how can I tell if it's a Mott? It is set-up for a 1-pt fast-hitch on a Cub.

My great grandfather invented the Mott mower called the the Mott flail knife (hammer knife) lawnmower. You can tell if it is a mott if it is either bright yellow or green with a tiny triangle saying Mott somewhere on it. email me if you have any questions.

Hi I have a Mott hammer knife flail mower that came with my 1951 Ford 8n. It worked like a champ I used it to mow my property and neighbors as well. However, it vibrates alot and sound s like it is binding up I checked the bearings on the blade roller and opened the rear covers on the differential it looks to be fine. I want to know what could be wrong please email me at [email protected] thank you, Nick Murrieta California

I've done business with Montage (see link below). They specialize in parts for Mott and other flail mowers. They seem to be knowledgeable, they're certainly helpful, and their prices are a little cheaper than for OEM Mott parts.

I've found that Mott (now Alamo) will sell you just about any part for their old mowers, but they ain't cheap. You should be able to find an Alamo dealer near you.

If I remember correctly that gear box is the same as the Cub belt pully.
