Can anybody tell me what the correct timing of the knotter on the super 77 baler is supposed to be? Looks like there would be plenty of leeway due to the plunger locking on the tying stroke, but want to have it set right.

I use a Super 77 and have an owners manual and have had to reset the timing. A really wonderful baler. I have a second one of sorts for parts, but if you ever tire of yours let me know! Had to buy a new tire last year.

New Holland still sells the manual the part number is 42007710. sells for $7.00. Looking at the catalog, the NH77 and the NH super 77 are both the same manual. SO if you have the NH 77 manual you are ready to go. they are both the same part number. Good luck with the bailing

The 77 baler doesn't have to be timed like the super 77, and my manual only covers the 77, so I am afraid that my manual doesn't do me any good. Maybe the manual you mentioned would. Thanks, Greg

I got some very good advice one day from an ex new holland mechanic. THROW THE DAM MANUAL ASIDE!!! Take the notter drive chain off, then trip the baler and rotate the notter drive gearuntil the needles are exactly flush with the bottom of the bail chamber not quit entering it then turn the flywheel counter clockwise until the triangle point has passed the needle bye 1/2 inch put the notter chain on and trip the notters and turn bye hand thruogh cycle. When done rotate the flywheel until plunger arm is between the timing marksand stop go look at the timing marks on the notter clutch and disk, they will be dead on.

I don't think you will find much leeway. My book is out in the barn, If someone get you the correct info I try to locate it. I had the pleasure of buying a new set of needels thinking I could figure a simple thing like timeing a baler. You realy need to get your self a book, It will save you time and money.
