I would like to get a round bailer and was wondering what you guys think about the bailers that you have experience with. Is there a big difference between the belt type and the chain and bar type like the NH? Any info is greatly appreciated!!! Bill Gross

I'll be the odd man out. I like my NH 845 baler. It is a chain type, but it has worked great for us for years. We did have new chains put on it this past winter. This was the first time since we purchased it. Yes, it was a little expensive but I figured it was cheaper than trading for a different baler and possibly inheriting someone else's troubles. At least I know my baler. Also mine has a manual tie which I prefer. It's simple, reliable, and easy for me to understand. A friend recently had the "brain" for his tie mechanism on his Vermeer shoot craps. It was going to be expensive to fix and worse to replace. I only do about 10 acres of hay a year so I'll stick with my old reliable NH 845! Just my 2 cents.

We have had good luck with the belt type balers. I think that they are better than the chain type on the earlier NH. I have heard problems with the bars bending on the NH and it is VERY expensive when the chains wear out and have to be replaced. I would recomend goin with the belt type, a Vermeer or NH if you want to spend the money. Netwrap is a nice feature, but also is costly. My 2 cents.

Stick with the belt balers, Case IH, Vermeer, JD or whatever the most popular color is in your area.
