JD #10 sickle bar mower

I am looking for a compatible mower for my JD 2020
There is a JD #10 side mount mower coming up at an auction. Would this fit my 2020? How much trouble is a side mount to hook up? What should I expect to pay? Any advice gladly accepted.

Duane the No 10 in my opinion was a good mower. Side mounts are a more complicated to attach as compared to a drawbar model or 3 point. There are several advantages to a mid mount:

1. You can see it while driving
2. It goes where the tractor goes (doesn't slide like a trailing
3. compact
4. I believe the #10 will all good inclines to mow ditches.

THat's my 2 cents worth.

As far as value, I can't tell you $500 - $600 maybe?

a #10 is a good mower I've used one for years. be sure the one you are looking at has the drive from a new generation tractor it would be a lot easier to have the correct drive setup than try and find one later. There were also two mounting plates make sure you have the correct one for a smaller tractor. If you want to give me a call I'll try and answer any questions. Thanks Jack and Rich for your insights. I suspect this particular #10 was used on a 720 as it is the smallest !! tractor in the auction. Atleast now I will know enough to look for the correct mid-PTO hook up. The 2020 mid PTO is 1000 rpm. Guess the drives were available for either 1000 (new gen) or 540?
