I bought this baler 2 years ago and have run about 3000 bales through it with very few problems. Now all of a sudden I can not keep the flywheel shear bolt tight. After 1-2 bales the nut has loosened up 2-3 turns. So I have to stop and tighten it back up. If I don't the nut will come off. I am using the correct NH bolts. The nuts are lock nuts so I can't see how they can work completely off the bolt. Anybody ever had this problem before or know what is wrong. Thanks for any help.

dave, Take the flywheel off and replace the bushing. Bushing is worn enough to let the flywheel wobble a little on the shaft.

Thanks JK MN for the info. I talked to a baler mechanic at the local FNH dealer and he told me to try and double nut the shear bolt. I tried that and the nuts still work loose but not as often. So I bought the flywheel bushing and put it in but have not tried it out yet. The flywheel did have a slight wobble before replacing and has about the same wobble after replacing the bushing so now I don't know if it did any good. Is it possible that the gear box shaft is worn? Also I noticed that the shear bolt hole is not round anymore it is kind of oblong. Could this cause the shear bolt to work loose? Thanks for any more help.
