Newbie, do your individual planter units lift with a chain for each row, or does the whole frame lift all the row units at the same time? Or perhaps another way, is your hitch a couple of flat irons, a pipe, or a couple of formed panels? If you can tell us any of this, we can likely tell you what you have. As soon as you know the model number, you need to go to John Deere and get a manual for it before you use it. We'll try to help you if you can give us just a little more info. Mike

You seem to be making this difficult. :)

Would you like to know the model number? I would if it were mine, to look for parts, etc.

How about giving us a better description of what you have. Is it really old, or just kind of old? What kind of press wheels does it have, steel, rubber, etc.? Plates I would assume, or? any attachments like fertilizer, herb/insecticide, check wire, what? Disk openers???

John Deere put a plate or sticker with a serial number on nearly everything they've built. Sometimes it's under an inch of grease, or buried on a rear brace, but with that info we can tell you what you have & how to adjust it.

It's just kinda hard to help you, when you're not telling us what you have. JD made quite a few different 4 row planters, we need more info to help you out.
