Found grandfather's old plow buried in weeds out in field and would like to determine what kind it is and mfg. It is a two bottom with a strange looking disc in front of the rear plow. It has alot of casting #'s all starting with "EP". One of the rims is green with yellow stenciling "EP7483". It has a large casting name of Lantz Mfg Co. Valparaiso, IN and it looks like the trademark of "Kutter Kolter" or something. It has a large K in front and a large R in back with the other letters small in two lines between the K & R
-any help would be appreciated. Also found a disc with casting numbers PB4125 & PB4126 and what looks like a sideways "L" and a "HI" (possibly) next to the sideways "L". Any info on that would help too!! Thanks.

Your plow is definitely an Oliver, since Oliver plow part numbers mostly all started with the prefix: EP. The Lantz company out of Valparaiso made after market coulters that could be mounted on any make of plow, The Lantz Kutter Kolter consisted of the usual vertical straight disk coulter, with a smaller, dished disk running at an angle to it. This arrangement eliminated the jointer which was prone to getting clogged in trashy ground. I have Lantz Kutter Kolters on my No. 44, 2-bottom John Deere plow, and they do a superior job in corn and bean stubble. Keep in mind that I use this plow with a 1949 JD AR in antique plowing matches where modern cover boards are frowned upon.

I don't know specifically about your piece of equipment, but Oliver started in South Bend, Indiana. I've toured the Oliver Mansion museum up there. A couple of old pieces of equip, but many pictures and history. It would be a start. The number is in the phone book, but you can surely find it on the Internet.

The "HI" next to the L is the International Harvester symbol-a large C with an H in the middle with an I in the middle of the H. I have a 1 bottom plow with the IHC symbol on it that I have been trying to get info on the restore with almost no luck. My equipment is all rust color and has very few numbers on them. The colors confuse me. Is it JD green or Oliver green?
Is your plow steel wheeled or rubber? Tractor or horse drawn?
