Hey everyobody, sorry to keep asking about balers but I'm shopping.

Can anybody tell me about the Massey-Ferguson #3 baler? I'm looking for small/lightweight baler that's ok on hills. I only have a few acres to hay, so high speed/production isn't an issue. Parts availability, price, and size are.

thanks for any info/opinions/experience you can give me.
Tom

I bale appx. 400 square bales per year.I spent the last 6 months looking for a better baler than the old mccormick international model 47 we used. Around here massey fergason's are very popular especially model 12's.I turned down a chance to buy a model 3 because the pick up width was too narrow, I ended up buying an old john deere 24t.

Hey! Hey! Hey! I'm real fond of my McCormick 47, I put up about 1200 bales a year with it... But seriously, is there something I don't know? Like I have the only "good" one in a sea of bad ones? It is a little older, and I probably break more per hundred than others do, but to me, some of the fun is trying to keep her going!
Bale on!

Our 47 has given us lots of problems over the years and there's nothing i hate worse than working on a baler in 90 degree weather and taking all day just to bale 300 bales.I've not heard much good about them and around here nobody
seems to know much about them, and it's hard to find someone to work on them, that's why i started looking for something that is more popular
like the j.d.

Around here, you only see New Holland & JD balers. Everything else sells for scrap iron. This does not mean all other balers are total junk, but it will be harder to find parts, find people experienced at repairing/ setting up other models, and so on. Where I live, I wouldn't even condsider a different brand than NH or JD. In the older machines, it seems those 2 were the first to get dependable, reliable knotters, which is the whole point of baling... If you have a good dealer & more of the other brands in your area, perhaps they are ok for you.

A MF#3 is a nice little baler. Around my area they bring around 600 dollars.
